Adjustments

Spinal Adjustment...
Once your condition has been diagnosed and evaluated by your doctor, then treatment can begin. An adjustment itself does not actually heal the body.  When any of the 24 moveable spinal vertebrae become misaligned, a basic imbalance or disruption can occur in the nervous and blood vascular systems, which can cause stress in the body.  An adjustment simply realigns the vertebrae and helps to restore the nerve energy so the body can function at its true potential.

Pre Adjustment Therapy...
Various massages, heat and cold packs, painless electrical heat or ultrasound therapy helps to reduce pain and relax muscle tissue.  Relaxed muscle tissue allows the vertebrae to be more easily adjusted into the correct position.

The doctors at Creekside Chiropractic & Physical Therapy can perform an adjustment to realign the vertebrae and restore joint mobility.  These gentle spinal manipulations, done with light, thrusting pressure on the joints, are often relaxing.  You may hear a slight popping sound during the adjustment, which is a natural result of the opening the joints quickly.

Several Adjustment May Be Required...

Tissue cell degeneration surrounding the vertebral subluxations causes chemical changes in the muscles that result in scar tissue and deform the connective tissue surrounding the muscles.  This weakens the muscles and other tissues around the spine that must be healthy before you can finally "hold" the spinal adjustment in place.  Scar tissue takes a long time to heal.  As a result it may take dozens of spinal adjustments before the spinal column is healthy enough to maintain its natural stability.
